The Forza Win team seem right at home in their second rooftop pizza supperclub
“Don’t be alarmed,” we said to our friends as we turned off Hackney Road and into a grim industrial estate in search of Forza Win’s new rooftop venue. “It’s definitely around here somewhere.” We soon spotted a lonely and somewhat incongruous figure sporting a Forza Win t-shirt and clipboard who turned out to be the venture’s co-founder Bash. He directed us off the street, through an empty garage, up a fire escape, past some barbed wire and out onto the Forza Win roof terrace. Which is lovely. Continue reading
The original branch of this expanding Neapolitan chain remains a cut above the rest
Brixton Market and neighbouring Brixton Village have gradually become a Mecca for South London foodies over the past couple of years. The place is regularly jam packed at weekends, with salivating punters eager to sample the latest pop-up taco stand, mouthwatering burger joint or authentic Thai curry house. However, one of the finest restaurants in the whole operation was one of the earliest to set up shop, with Franco Manca continuing to draw a crowd of dedicated pizza-lovers week in week out. London’s newest supper club puts pizza in the spotlight
The upside of dinner at a supper club is the promise of an intimate setting with restaurant quality food. The downside is the occasionally cramped surroundings into which wannabe restauranteurs cram their “guests” like sardines. Happily, Forza Win provides all the allure of the former while dodging the pitfalls of the latter by staging their newly opened supper club on the spacious roof terrace of an East London office block.
